Kurzdarstellung (unübersetzt)
The EU-funded 7th Framework Programme has two main strategic objectives : to strengthen the scientific and technological base of European industry and to encourage its international competitiveness, while promoting research that supports EU policies.

As part of this programme, initial training of researchers is being offered through Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITN) which will improve their research skills and help them join established research teams. In parallel, complementary training will enhance their career prospects in both public and private sectors.

The PicoSEC ITN is being coordinated by CERN. It brings together Early Stage (ESR) and Experienced (ER) Researchers from around the world, to take part in a structured, integrated and multidisciplinary training programme for researchers in an R&D project geared to develop a new class of ultra-fast photon detectors in Positron Emission Tomography and High Energy Physics. The ITN comprises public and private organizations in Europe and is based upon a common research programme, aiming to increase skills exchange between public and private sectors, whilst enhancing the career prospects of the recruited researchers.
